New Thought: What is Law of Mind?

The Universal mind creates. It doesn’t judge. It doesn’t condemn or have favorites. It responds to our direction. Our astrological sign doesn’t matter, nor does our religion. What matters is how we direct the Law of Mind. This is the energy that knows all, and because we have free-will, It waits on our guidance.

Being impersonal, It doesn’t know what it creates—only that it does create. If It seems to create what we don’t want, or wishy-washy results, that’s a sign that we, not God (Universe, Law, Energy—call it whatever you’re comfortable with) need to make a change. We need to shift our thinking, or consciousness (which will eventually shift our thinking.) We need to get clear on what we want and to decide that our want is worth taking the time to pray, meditate or read. Is it worth noticing our passing thoughts, our off-the-cuff comments? We can’t think and say negative things and experience positive outcomes. We can’t tell our woeisme story and experience strength and success. Which side of the fence are you on? If you teeter, your results teeter.

Make a conscious choice about an experience you want. A better job, a loving relationship, moving to a place you love as much as where you live now—and some. To set it in motion, you must first set in mind. By setting it in your mind, you place it in the Mind of God—The Infinite Intelligence, The Law of Mind, The One.

Next, you must do your part by keeping negative away from what you claim to want. Negative comes in the form of worry, doubt, and thoughts as well as words and actions. If you know a friend of yours will laugh, make fun of, or disagree, it’s not the time to share this with them. You must get yourself on board first before you try to recruit others. Even when you get in the grove and life is humming along, I’d steer clear of what amounts to proselytizing to those who don’t want to be in your club. It’s a waste of your time and energy. If they show interest in how your life works, share it. If not, let them do their thing, and you do yours. otherwise, they’ll try to sell you their opinion in why your way doesn’t work, and that brings you back to doubt. The only way for someone to learn this stuff is buy doing. If “it” doesn’t work, perhaps the designer (you) made an error. Not specific enough. Too specific. Gave it to Universal Mind, then took it right back.

. . . What perfect timing! I just saw someone attempt to enter the laundry room. They punched in the code, and couldn’t get in—so they kicked the door. They went to get the manager. He came and put in the code, and the door opened. Ta-Daa! Next time something doesn’t go smoothly for you, stop. Step back. Take a breath and bring Universal Mind into the situation.

“A burned child scorns the flame.” —Swedish proverb

How the Universe Works

What would it be like to take one day a week and give only thanks in prayer rather than asking forsomething, or petitioning God. No matter what the current outlook, do you give thanks for what is, and for how excited you are to discover the situation’s outcome? Prayer isn’t about “getting” — it’s about change. Changing our consciousness.

When we pray “Oh, God, give me this” or, “Give me this and I’ll do that” it’s not a prayer at all. It’s a business deal, and we’re calling the shots. The Universe doesn’t work like that. Run a perception check right now. Have you been whining about work? Bad mouthing someone? Complaining about money? Is your response to defend all the reasons you hate your job, and the louse who isn’t paying you enough? —And after all, you’re only involved in gossip, back-biting pettiness, because the person is so stupid, or rude, right? NO! You’re partaking in verbal graffiti. There is no justification. It’s up to you to change your thinking, and change your life. Only you can do it. To take from a song, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.”

Don’t like the job? Sit down and get quiet. Do you know if this situation is temporary? Is it a stepping stone? A learning curve for you? (It may be a spiritual learning curve, and that doesn’t always show up in the setting we expect.) Are you willing to leave the job, neighborhood or person? Do you believe you’re worthy of the position or situation you want to manifest? Do you listen for guidance? (Do you ask for it?) — If you think that’s an odd thing to write after beginning the post with “Praise, don’t ask” re-read the first sentence: Take one day a week in prayer to praise, and give thanks rather than asking forsomething, or petitioning God. In the Jewish teaching, the Sabbath is a day to refrain from asking God for “more.” The day is meant for expressing thanks to God.

In all things give thanks. Got food? Thank you God! Maybe your home was destroyed by Sandy. Did someone open their home to you? It’s not brushing over tough situations, it’s shining the light on what’s working in your life. The stronger the wind behind the ocean, the bigger the waves. Same is true with our thoughts and perceptions. If we run around taking smack about our life, guess what? We’re creating a storm, and we’ll get more smack to talk about. Oh, no. Don’t want that!

So, turn it around. It’s cause and effect. Make sure the wind behind the ocean is harnessed power, one that will sail your ship in the direction you intend to go, rather than destroy your ship. We never go directly from point A to point B, but if our intention is focused and we stay true to our desires, the detours won’t be as drastic, and many of the adventures will bring us joy along the way.

This brings us back to focusing on what we want to experience. Not as in, “I want this, and this, and that…” but as in, if I want a better job, it serves me well to praise everything about my current job. (Even if you still feel the louse doesn’t pay you enough.) Thank God for an income. Think of anything you can about the job that you like. Is it close to home? Do you have a window with a nice view? As you go through everything you can think of that’s good in the situation, take that “good” energy and feel it. Don’t just go through the motions of making a mental list, and saying, “Thank you.” Our Universe is a feeling, creative one. It picks up on your vibration. If this is dreaded homework, find a way that works better for you. Mostly, stay out of the intellect. That’s where the ego lives. The Creative Mind is the mind of God. It lives in the imagination; the home of possibilities.

One day this week, see how many people, things and events you can hold in gratitude, without asking for “more.”

Energy:

Your grandmother was right. You are a bundle of energy! Everything is energy. That includes money, too. When you break anything down to its sub-sub particle level, you’ll find more space than matter, and the energy particles will be in motion.

Energy isn’t “good” or “bad”, it’s neutral. Money isn’t good or bad, either. It’s our perception and use of money that stirs up emotions. Spend some time searching your belief system about money. Are people filthy rich? Is money the root of all evil? Does money equate power? Does living without what you want make you more evolved? Does stockpiling ensure you’ll have what you want later?

Be OK with your answers. If you find a belief you want to change, take steps to anchor your new belief. For example, If you previously held the belief rich people were snobs, you might want to go to a place “rich” people go. (Walk through a ritzy store, try on the jewelry, outfits. . .) It is not about spending money. It’s about changing a belief system. How do you feel in that atmosphere? If you’re not enjoying it, try another place on a different day. Make an effort to feel you belong there.  If you feel you don’t, that feeling will mirror back to you.

Monitor your feelings, thoughts and actions during this exercise. Do you feel uncomfortable? Resentful? Or are you enjoying the experience? What actions are you taking to show the universe — or yourself, that you can take care of wealth? How are you talking about money? How are you dressed? (This is about being “put together” neatly, not about buying a new outfit.) Did you wash your car before going on this outing? How about removing the month old chip bag from the back seat?

Go prove your grandmother right, you bundle of energy!

Have fun!
