Have you ever said, “If I had a million dollars, I’d. . .” ? (Fill in the blank.) Maybe you continued with the list: get a new house, get a new car, travel, or education. Maybe a tithe or gift to charity. But did you really budget how you’d use that million dollars? No.
You gave some time to a daydream. You entertained the idea of creating a budget. Then you stopped. You have no idea how much of that money you’ve spent, or saved. Did you put some aside for taxes?
The same is true in the “real world”. People estimate what things cost – and they’re often way off in their estimation, forgetting taxes, maintenance, or bank account balance. They buy without doing the math. Or even the logic.
Set your sights high, and budget for them. If you want more money, begin with being a good steward of the money you have.
